Mechanism of Action
PRP therapy utilizes the regenerative properties of your body’s own platelets to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, or stimulate hair follicles. Platelets are rich in growth factors and other bioactive substances that promote tissue repair and regeneration.
During the treatment, a small amount of your blood is drawn and processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood components.
The concentrated PRP is then applied to your skin or scalp, either through micro-needling or injection techniques, depending on your specific needs and goals.
The steps of the procedure
During a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) procedure, the process typically involves the following steps:
- Preparation
- Blood Extraction
- Isolation of Platelet-Rich Plasma
- Application/Injection
- Absorption and Stimulation
- Post-Treatment Care
The entire procedure usually takes about 30-45 minutes, and patients can resume their regular activities shortly after, although some redness or mild swelling may be present for a short time post-treatment.
