Mechanism of Action
Laser therapy works by delivering controlled energy into specific layers of the skin, depending on the indication and laser type used.
At House of Glow, we use highly advanced Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers, allowing us to treat a wide variety of skin concerns with exceptional precision and safety.
- Nd:YAG laser targets deeper structures such as blood vessels, hair follicles and deeper skin layers
- Er:YAG laser focuses on superficial skin resurfacing, texture improvement and collagen stimulation
These technologies stimulate collagen production, improve skin quality, and selectively treat unwanted structures while preserving surrounding tissue. The result is a more even, youthful and radiant skin over time.
The steps of the procedure
During your consultation at House of Glow, Dr Gijsen will perform a detailed skin analysis and discuss your concerns, expectations, potential side effects, and expected results. As laser treatments are highly individual, each procedure is fully customised.
On the day of treatment, the skin is cleansed and prepared. Depending on the procedure, cooling or a topical anaesthetic may be applied for comfort. The laser is then precisely guided over the targeted areas.
After the session, you may experience temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling or sensitivity. These effects are usually short-lived and depend on the type and intensity of the treatment. Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure optimal healing and results.
Many laser treatments are best performed during the autumn and winter months, when sun exposure is limited, to maximise safety and effectiveness. However, some indications can be performed all throughout the year.
